Chilli Types: Aleppo

A treasure of the Silk Road, the Aleppo pepper (or Halaby pepper) is prized for its complex flavour, not just its heat. Hailing from Syria and Turkey, it’s often sold as crushed flakes. It has a moderate heat level (around 10,000 SHU) with a rich, earthy, and slightly tangy flavour profile with hints of sundried tomato and fruit. It’s perfect for adding aromatic warmth without overwhelming a dish.
