The Prize
The overall winner of the Berlin Amateur Chili Sauce Competition will receive a unique development opportunity designed to help take their sauce from home kitchen to professional production.
First Prize includes:
- 👨🍳A guided development session in a professional kitchen
- 🤝Collaboration with a chef or experienced sauce professional
- 🔬Support refining the recipe for balance, consistency, and scalability
- 🍾A small production run of 100 bottles (100ml each) of the winning sauce, following appropriate food safety standards
Important Notes
- • The prize is intended for development and learning purposes
- • Recipe ownership remains with the creator unless otherwise agreed
- • Final production method, packaging, and labeling will be determined collaboratively
- • No cash alternative is offered

This is a non-commercial amateur chili sauce competition.
- 📅4 qualifying rounds held from February to May 2026
- 🥇Top 3 sauces from each qualifying round advance to the finals
- 🏆Finals take place on May 30th, 2026 at the Berlin Chili Fest - Learn more
- 🎤Winner announced on Sunday, May 31st at 6:00 PM on the main stage
- 📍Each round is held at a different venue across Berlin
Competition Rules
- ✓You must have made the sauce yourself (family recipes are allowed)
- ✓Non-commercial sauces only
- ✓Sauces must be prepared hygienically with proper hot-filling or canning processes
- ✓Judges' decisions are final
Judging Criteria
Sauces are judged by a combination of community tasters and expert judges at each event. Each sauce is scored out of 10 in the following categories:

- • Use of chilis / Heat profile
- • Flavor / Palate
- • Creativity / Individuality / Memorability
- • Finish / Aftertaste / Afterburn
Note: Hotter does not mean a higher score

Second and third place finalists from the finals will also be recognized for their achievements:
